FAQ
The apps: your questions answered
FaceSearch runs as an app on iPhone and Android as well as in the browser. The same account, credits and plans work in both, the search is the same search, and the only real difference is where you pay and how you pick a photo. These answers cover the questions people ask before and after installing.
First search free. No account needed. Updated November 6, 2026 by The FaceSearch Team.
The app is the website's search in a phone-shaped frame: same public web index, same credits, same rules. Everything on the mobile app page applies here; the questions below are the ones that come up in support mail.
| App (iOS and Android) | Website | |
|---|---|---|
| Search | Normal and deep search, same index | Normal and deep search, same index |
| Account and credits | Shared | Shared |
| Billing | App Store or Google Play | Card through the billing page |
| Cancelling | Store subscription settings | Billing in your account |
| Picking a photo | Camera roll or a screenshot on the phone | Drag and drop or file picker |
| Free first search | Yes | Yes, no account needed |
Questions
01Where do I get the app?
On the App Store for iPhone at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/facesearch-ai/id6792020218 and on Google Play for Android at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.humanityfounders.facesearch. Both are published by Humanity Founders. The store links also sit in the footer of every page on this site.
02Do I need a separate account for the app?
No. Sign in to the app with the account you use on the website, by email and password, Google or Apple, and your plan, your normal and deep credits and your saved scans are there. A credit spent on the phone is one fewer on the website, and the other way round.
03How does billing work in the app?
A plan bought inside the app is charged by Apple or Google, at the store's local price, which can differ slightly from the website price because of regional pricing and taxes. A plan bought on the website is charged by card through the billing page. Either way the plan works on both the app and the website.
04How do I cancel a subscription bought in the app?
In your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, not in FaceSearch. The plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Refund requests for app purchases go to Apple or Google under their own rules. Deleting your FaceSearch account does not cancel a store subscription, so cancel first.
05Can I search a screenshot from my phone?
Yes, and it is the app's best use. Most apps block saving other people's photos, so take a screenshot of the profile or post, crop it in the phone's photo editor so one face fills most of the frame, and pick it from the camera roll. The photo tips page explains what makes a photo match well.
06What permissions does the app need?
Access to the photo you pick, so it can upload it for the search. It does not need your location, contacts or microphone. The photo is checked and re-encoded on the server with its metadata stripped, used for your search only, and never used to build a face database, exactly as on the website.
07Does my history sync between the app and the website?
Yes. Saved scans belong to your account, not to the device, so a scan kept on the phone shows in History on the website and vice versa. Delete a scan in either place and it is gone from both. Searches run without signing in are not saved anywhere.
08Can I delete my account from the app?
Yes, from the account section in the app, or from Profile on the website, or by following the steps on the delete your account page. Deletion removes the account, its saved scans and its data. Cancel any store subscription first, because deleting the account does not stop the store from billing.
