Removal

Remove your face from FaceSearch results

You can have your face removed from FaceSearch results at any time, for free, without an account. Run a search for your own face, email us one clear photo and the result URLs you want hidden, and we stop showing matching results and confirm by email. Removal here does not take the photo off the website it lives on; that is a separate step, and we point you to it.

Removal is free and needs no account. Updated November 5, 2026 by The FaceSearch Team.

What removal does

When you ask us to remove your face, we stop returning matching results in future searches run by anyone on FaceSearch. The photo of your face that you send us is used to find those matches and nothing else; it is not added to the index, not shared and not used to build a face database. Once the removal is in place we confirm by email, and the request stays in force unless you ask us to lift it.

Removal is free for everyone. You do not need an account, a plan or a reason. If you have an account, you can also delete individual saved scans from your history and delete the account itself from your profile; those are separate from removal and are covered on the delete your account page.

How to request removal

  1. Search for your own face

Open the search page and run a search with a clear, recent photo of yourself. The first search is free and needs no account. Note the result URLs you want hidden; if you have a paid plan, every source link is unlocked, and on the Free plan the top results are still enough to show us which matches you mean.

  2. Email us one clear photo and the result URLs

Send an email to contact@facesearch.cc with the subject "Remove my photos". Attach one clear, front-facing photo of your face and paste the result URLs if you have them. If you do not have the URLs, the photo alone is enough; we run the search ourselves.

  3. We hide matching results and confirm

We review the request, hide matching results from future searches and reply to the address you wrote from. We aim to confirm within five business days. If anything about the request is unclear we reply with a question rather than closing it.

  4. If ownership of the face is disputed

In rare cases, for example when two people claim the same face or a request looks like an attempt to hide someone else, we may ask for a redacted copy of an ID that shows your face and nothing else. Cover the number, address and any other fields. The copy is used for that check and deleted afterwards.

Removing someone else's photos

We handle requests on behalf of another person case by case, by email, with proof of the relationship. A parent or guardian asking for a child, a relative asking for someone who has died, a carer or legal representative acting for an adult who cannot act for themselves: write to contact@facesearch.cc, say who you are asking for and why, and attach one clear photo of that person. We may ask for a document that shows the relationship. Searching for anyone under 18 is prohibited under our acceptable use rules, so a request for a child is always granted once the relationship is clear.

If you own the copyright in a photo and want it out of our results for that reason, rather than because it shows your face, the same email address works. Say that it is a copyright request, give the result URLs and tell us why you hold the rights. Website owners who do not want their pages included in FaceSearch results can also write to us, and we respect that. For questions about how we treat the photo you send us, see privacy by design and the Privacy Policy.

What happens to the photo you send

The photo in your removal email is used to identify the results to hide and to keep them hidden. It is handled under the same rules as every other photo on FaceSearch: metadata is stripped, it is never sold, and it is never used to build a face database or to train a model. If you later ask us to lift the removal, we delete it. You can ask about the status of a request at any time by replying to the confirmation email.

Questions

01Is removal free?

Yes, for everyone, with or without an account. There is no paid tier for removal and no faster paid queue. Email contact@facesearch.cc with one clear photo of your face and, if you have them, the result URLs you want hidden.

02Do I need to send ID?

Usually not. One clear photo of your face is enough for most requests. We only ask for a redacted ID when the request is disputed, for example when the same face is claimed by two people. Cover everything on the ID except your face and name, and we delete the copy after the check.

03How long does it take?

We aim to confirm within five business days of receiving a complete request. If we need something else from you, such as a clearer photo, we reply with that question and the five days start again once we have it. You get an email when the removal is in place.

04Will the photos come back?

Results we have hidden stay hidden. A photo that is published again later under a new URL, or on a new site, can appear as a new result because it is a new page. If that happens, email us the new URL and we hide it too. There is no limit on how many times you can ask.

05Does this remove photos from Google or from the source website?

No. Removal here only affects FaceSearch results. The photo stays on the website that published it until that site or its host takes it down, and Google and other engines keep their own copies until you ask them. Our takedown guide and our removal guide explain both routes, with the request forms for each.

06Can I remove someone else's photos?

Yes, case by case. A parent for a child, a relative for someone who has died, a carer or legal representative for an adult who cannot act for themselves. Email contact@facesearch.cc, explain the relationship and attach one clear photo of the person. We may ask for a document that shows the relationship before we act.
