FAQ
Privacy and data: your questions answered
Short answers about the data FaceSearch holds: what is stored when you search, for how long, who can see it, and how to get it out again. The photo you upload is stripped of metadata, used only to run your search, never sold and never used to build a face database. Everything you save can be deleted.
First search free. No account needed. Updated November 5, 2026 by The FaceSearch Team.
These are the questions people ask most about their data. The full picture of how a photo moves through FaceSearch is on privacy by design, and the legal text is the Privacy Policy. For hiding your face from results, see remove my photos and the removal FAQ. Anything not covered here: email contact@facesearch.cc and a person will reply.
Questions
01What is stored when I run a search?
The photo you uploaded, with its metadata stripped, and the list of results. If you are signed in they are saved together as a scan in your history. If you are a guest they are tied to your browser session and not to any account. Nothing from your search is added to the index, so your upload does not make you findable by anyone else.
02How long is my data kept?
A saved scan is kept until you delete it or delete your account. Account data such as your email, sign-in method, plan and credits is kept until you delete the account. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. A guest session lasts until the browser session ends or the guest credits are used.
03Can I export my data?
Yes. From your account you can download the data FaceSearch holds about you, including your saved scans and account details, as a file you can keep. If you cannot sign in, email contact@facesearch.cc from the address on your account and we send the export to that address.
04How do I delete one scan?
Open the scan from your history and choose delete. The search photo and its results are removed from your account. There is no limit on how many scans you can delete, and deleting a scan does not use a credit.
05How do I delete my account?
From Profile, choose Delete account, or follow the steps on the delete your account page. Every saved scan and all account data attached to it are removed. Cancel any subscription first: deleting the account does not stop billing bought through the App Store or Google Play, and web billing should be cancelled from Billing before you delete.
06What is stripped from my photo?
All embedded metadata: camera make and model, location, the time the photo was taken, software tags and anything else stored inside the file. The image is also downscaled on your device and re-encoded on the server, so what reaches the search is pixels and nothing else.
07Who can see my results?
Only you. Results are shown to the account or browser session that ran the search. There are no public result pages and no shareable links to other people's searches. The owner of a page that appears in your results is not told that it appeared.
08Do you train AI on my photos?
No. Uploads are used to run the search they belong to and for nothing else. They are not used to improve matching, not fed to any training pipeline and not shared with any model provider. Your upload is a question to the index, never an entry in it.
09Do you sell my data?
No. FaceSearch does not sell personal data, photos or results, and does not share them with advertisers or data brokers. The providers that run parts of the service, such as hosting, payments and sign-in, may only use data to do that job.
11What is stored for a guest search?
A guest search uses a short-lived session tied to your browser, with a small guest credit allowance. The photo and results exist for that session and are not attached to any account. If you later create an account, nothing from the guest session is moved into it unless you run the search again while signed in.
12Is a removal request the same as deleting my data?
No. Deleting a scan or an account removes what FaceSearch holds about you as a user. A removal request hides your face from everyone's search results, whether or not you have an account. You can do either or both. Removal is free and is explained on the remove my photos page.
