Deep Search: a wider pass over the public web
A deep search is a face search that casts a wider net. It compares your photo against a larger set of public sources than a normal search, takes longer to finish, and uses one deep search credit instead of a normal credit. It needs an account, because deep credits come with paid plans and top-ups.
First search free. No account needed. Updated November 5, 2026 by The FaceSearch Team.
What deep search does differently
A normal search compares the face in your photo against the core set of public pages in the index and answers in seconds. A deep search runs the same comparison over a wider set of public sources. It is still the public web only, still the same face-matching, still ranked closest first; there is simply more of it to go through, which is why it takes longer and why it has its own credit.
| Normal search | Deep search | |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Core set of public pages | Wider set of public pages |
| Time | Seconds | Longer; progress is shown while it runs |
| Credit used | One normal credit | One deep search credit |
| Who can run it | Anyone; the first one is free without an account | Signed-in users on a paid plan, or with top-up credits |
| Results | Ranked matches with source pages | The same, usually more of them |
When a deep search is worth it
- A normal search came back empty or thin and the question matters, such as a photo you suspect is being misused.
- You are doing a full self-audit. Before a job search, a public role or a move, people want the long tail, not the first page.
- You are preparing takedowns. A sweep that finds every copy saves sending requests twice. See photo takedown.
- You check regularly as a creator or public figure and want each pass to go as far as it can. The creators page describes a weekly routine.
When a normal search is enough
- A quick check of a dating or marketplace photo. The top results usually settle it; see catfish check.
- A first look at whether your face is out there at all.
- A repeat of a search you ran recently, when little will have changed.

How to run a deep search
Sign in
Deep search needs an account with deep credits. Every paid plan includes some; Daily Pro and Business can also buy top-ups.
Add your photo
One clear, front-facing face, as for any search. The photo tips page explains what helps.
Choose Deep Search
Pick the deep option on the search page before you start. One deep credit is used.
Wait, or come back
The scanner shows progress. Signed in, the scan is saved, so you can leave and reopen the finished result from your history.
Read the results
Closest first, each with its source page. Reading your results covers look-alikes, dead links and what no matches means.
Top-ups
Daily Pro and Business subscribers can buy extra deep search credits in packs from the billing page in their account when a month's allowance runs out. Starter does not offer top-ups; if you find yourself needing more than three deep searches a week, Daily Pro is the better fit. Packs and prices are shown live in the account, because they come from the billing system.
Questions
01What is a deep search?
A face search that compares your photo against a wider set of public sources than a normal search. It takes longer, uses one deep search credit, and returns the same kind of ranked results with source pages.
02How long does a deep search take?
Longer than a normal search, because it is doing more comparisons. The scanner shows progress, and signed-in users can leave and reopen the finished scan from their history.
03Can I run a deep search without an account?
No. Deep search needs an account with deep credits. The free first search without an account is a normal search.
04Will a deep search find things a normal search missed?
Often, yes, because it covers more public pages. It will not find anything behind a login or anything that is not on the public web, and it can still come back empty.
05Which plans can buy deep search top-ups?
Daily Pro and Business. Starter includes three deep credits a week and no top-ups; if you need more, Daily Pro includes 15 a month plus top-ups.
06Should I deep search the same photo again later?
If time has passed and the matter is open, yes. The index follows the web, so a later search can find pages that did not exist before. For a routine check, a normal search is usually enough.
