FaceSearch vs Search4Faces

Search4Faces is a Russian face search service that matches a photo against profile pictures it collected from VK, Odnoklassniki, TikTok and Clubhouse, plus a set of public figures. It links straight to profiles. FaceSearch searches public web pages of every kind and returns the page, not a profile. The two overlap less than their names suggest, and the privacy picture is very different.

First search free. No account needed. Updated November 6, 2026 by The FaceSearch Team. Prices checked on November 6, 2026.

If the person you are checking is on VK or Odnoklassniki, Search4Faces is the only engine built for that, and it links to the profile. For everything else on the open web, and for anyone searching their own face, FaceSearch covers far more ground, says plainly that it returns pages rather than identities, and gives you a free removal route that Search4Faces does not publish.

What Search4Faces is

Search4Faces describes itself, in Russian, as a service for finding people on the internet by photo. Its English page lists the datasets it searches, with sizes and the dates they were collected: VK profile photos gathered between November 2019 and November 2020, VK and Odnoklassniki photos refreshed in 2022 and 2024, TikTok avatars from 2021, a partly processed Clubhouse set, and a celebrity set drawn from sources such as Wikipedia and IMDb. Each dataset carries a self-reported success rate. Results link to the matching profile on vk.com, ok.ru or the other networks.

That design is the whole difference. Search4Faces is a profile finder for a handful of social networks, built from avatars scraped on specific dates; it does not crawl the web and will not find a news photo, a gallery or a blog. FaceSearch does not hold datasets of any social network's avatars and does not link faces to profiles; it finds faces on publicly accessible web pages and shows the page. If the person's VK avatar changed after 2024, Search4Faces may not know; if the photo was never on VK, OK, TikTok or Clubhouse, it has nothing to match.

Where Search4Faces wins

  • VK and Odnoklassniki. No general face search engine indexes those networks' profile photos at that scale; if your question is about a VK account, this is the tool.
  • A direct profile link as the result, where it matches.
  • An API, for people who want to automate.
  • Dataset transparency: it publishes what it collected, when, and its own success rate per dataset, which few engines do.

Where FaceSearch wins

  • Coverage of the open web. News, galleries, blogs, forums, marketplaces and public profiles on any site, not four networks' avatars from fixed collection dates.
  • No identity claims. FaceSearch returns pages where a similar face appears and keeps no link between faces and accounts; see facial recognition search for why that matters.
  • A published removal route, free, by email, on remove my photos. Search4Faces describes none on its pages.
  • Stated handling of your upload: metadata stripped, used only for the search, never added to a face database, under terms on privacy by design. Search4Faces is a Russian service operating under its own policy.
  • Deep search, apps and support, with weekly and monthly plans you can cancel.

Privacy and jurisdiction

Search4Faces is built on datasets of profile photos collected from social networks and linked to the accounts they came from. Whatever its legal position in Russia, that is the model European and UK regulators have acted against in the Clearview AI cases, and uploading a photo of someone else to it may itself be unlawful where you live; the legal guide explains the rules for the US, EU, UK and India. Uploading your own photo is your decision, made under the service's own privacy policy. FaceSearch's rules are on acceptable use; it does not search for people on your behalf, only for public pages that show a similar face.

Switching, or using FaceSearch alongside

  1. For anything outside VK, OK, TikTok and Clubhouse, run a free search on the search page; no account is needed for the first one.
  2. If you were using Search4Faces to check a dating or marketplace contact, read the catfish check guide first; it explains what a match and a miss mean on any engine.
  3. If your own avatar appears in Search4Faces results, their site publishes no opt-out; the contact page and the DMCA policy are the routes they offer. Removal from FaceSearch is a free email.

Questions

01Is Search4Faces better than FaceSearch?

For a VK or Odnoklassniki profile, yes: it is the only engine built from those networks' avatars and it links to the profile. For the open web it does not compete; it searches four networks' profile photos collected on fixed dates, while FaceSearch searches public pages of every kind. Pick by where the photo is likely to be.

02Is Search4Faces free?

Its site published no prices on November 6, 2026 and no free-tier description; it offers a login and an API page. FaceSearch's first search is free without an account, and paid plans start at $5 a week.

03Is Search4Faces legal or safe to use?

It matches faces to social-network accounts using scraped avatar datasets, a model EU and UK regulators have fined in the Clearview AI cases, and it is a Russian service under its own terms. Uploading a photo of someone else to it may be unlawful where you live. Searching your own face is your decision. FaceSearch returns pages, not identities, and prohibits searching other people without a lawful reason.

04Can I use both?

You can. If a VK-specific question is yours to ask lawfully, Search4Faces covers it; FaceSearch covers the rest of the public web. Read our acceptable use page before searching anyone but yourself on either.

05Which is cheaper?

Search4Faces publishes no prices, so we cannot say. FaceSearch is free for the first search and $5 for a Starter week with every link.

06How do I remove my face from Search4Faces?

Its site describes no opt-out. The routes it offers are its contact email and its copyright and DMCA policy. Because its results are avatars, changing or removing the avatar on VK, OK or TikTok stops new copies, but the collected datasets are dated and may keep the old image. Removal from FaceSearch results is a free email.
